OUR MISSION TO THE LAPD SOUTHEAST DIVISION COMMUNITY:
Assist in the coordination and provide funding resources for public safety, healthcare, education, youth, jobs and communities for better quality of life on a daily basis and during critical incidents.
OUR PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE
The primary purpose and objectives of this organization shall be to enhance public safety and assist law enforcement and other responders to make neighborhoods safer and more productive communities, fight juvenile delinquency and educate the community on how to work with law enforcement and protect community interests.
OUR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
The Southeast Area Business Booster Association activities relate to law enforcement and the prevention of crime in areas where the primary law enforcement agency is the Los Angeles City Police Department.
Our usual annual events of the Association are as follows:
1. National Night Out
This is a community event open to the public. Its objective is to heighten awareness of crime and drug use for the prevention of them. It raises funds for anti-crime programs. Its publicity sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and resisting crime. Often this event is based on stage entertainment by community members in the community where the particular even occurs.
2. Clergy Breakfast Meetings
The Association sponsors the cost of breakfasts among clergy, police officers, and community residents often after critical incidents such as homicides.
3. Los Angeles Police Department Cadets
The Association sponsors the annual holiday party, the Sheriff’s Mud Run Competition, field trips and other training of the Cadets organization whose members range in age between fourteen and twenty-one.
4. Deputy Auxiliary Police
The Association sponsors field trips and other training of the Deputy Auxiliary Police whose members range in age between nine and thirteen.
5. Jeopardy Program
The Association sponsors training and field trip events for the members of this organization which are “at-risk” boys and girls whose ages are eight through seventeen.
6. Police Activity League
The Association sponsors training and field trip events, and educational and athletic activities with the objective of promoting trust and understanding between police officers and youth.
7. The Challenge Cup Baker to Vegas Relay Race
The Association provides food, clothing, and emergency supplies to this annual, law enforcement, relay race.
8. Annual Youth Tea Party
The Association provides the supplies for this annual tea party. Community members are served by community youth organization members who are supervised by Association members.
9. Annual Holiday Posada
The Association provides toys and supplies for gifts which are distributed at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station.
10. Annual Southeast Los Angeles Police Department Officer Appreciation Day
Just beforeThanksgiving each year, the Association provides food and supplies for a holiday feast for on-duty officers at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station.
11. Annual Holiday Party for Los Angeles Police Department Officers
The Association provides funding for gifts which are distributed at this annual party.
12. Annual Southeast Division Community Holiday Party
The Association provides food and supplies as are necessary to bring together all of the various community stakeholders.
13. Annual Special Olympics Torch Run
The Association provides funding to support the Southeast Division Los Angeles Police Department members who run in this fundraiser for the Special Olympics, the international program that supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
14. Annual Southeast Boosters Golf Tournament
The Association sponsors the use of a golf course for this fund raising event. The proceeds of the event are used to sponsor other events of the Association.
15. Los Angeles Police Department Training and Equipment
Because of budgetary constraints, the Los Angeles Police Department often does not have the resources necessary to properly train and equip its officers.
The Association raises funds to do so.
16. Los Angeles Police Department Reserve Officers
Reserve officers are volunteers who are required to have much of the same duty equipment as full time, paid officers. Reserve officers often must acquire their own equipment using their own funds. The Association assists with the payment of these expenses.
The organization is involve in various programs & scholastic sponsorships for kids in the community.
